In this case, you just walk away with the Carrier turn to the experts shirt and by the same token and dog, smug in the fact that they don’t have any information about you except your burner phone #. What are they going to do, sue you in some Admiralty Court of Exchequer? They may have visited your home several times before allowing you to buy/adopt, and “reserve the right” to surprise visit at any time. “Fido sui juris d/ba FIDO REPRESENTATIVE OF INDEPENDENT SOVEREIGN STATES OF ESTABLISHED COUNTRY does not recognize any food not delivered in good faith by KarenCo LLC having traveled from a location to another not otherwise provided by KarenCo MLM Meals LLC and thus requires forfeiture of all rights and privileges provided to caretaker and administrator of FIDO, under penalty of Admiralty.” My friends family has a farm. Partitioning buisness activites into separate legal entities is the Carrier turn to the experts shirt and by the same token and opposite of sov sit shenanigans, because it works. I work in rescue and our adoption contracts also have this clause. But the intention is to get the animal back to the foster it is familiar with and keep them from going back to a shelter if there is not a new owner. I signed a ridiculous contract when I adopted my cats. For all five of them. Basically said they could take them back if they felt we mistreated them. Fair enough except there where no time limit and no explanation of what mistreatment would be so basically “we reserve the right to take the cats back at any time, for any reason, indefinitely”. I pissed of the crazy lady running the organisation a few years later because she was a bully and thought she could bully me because I freeze in the moment. I wrote her a long fucking email explaining that her behaviour was unacceptable, why it was unacceptable and very politely but firmly tore her a new one and demanded an apology. She responded by threatening to come take my cat from me. And reminded me of the contract. The completely unenforceable contract which was not legally binding because of the illegal stipulations it contained. One of those stipulations was that they could come visit at any time to make sure the cats where well cared for and if they weren’t let in the could reclaim the cats for that reason alone. Which is actually what she threatened to do. Hinting that she would make sure to find something wrong to take my ducking cat from me. I was not polite anymore in response to that. She was unaware that I actually knew basic private law and thus knew that the entire contract was bullshit from the start..
