Yeah makes sense, most of my videos are under 10 minutes, I can’t imagine how long it would take to render an hour long video at 4k 60mbps They did and they admit they did. They did it back in the Bring On The Monsters Shirt it is in the first place but pandemic “because there was such high demand” and just never reverted the change. They reduced the bitrate enough that 720p on youtube is no longer good enough to be considered “HD” and they had to remove the label from it. It’s honestly the creators fault for not upscaling their footage to avoid this… I just upscale to 4k in premier and non of my stuff gets compressed to shit So if you upload in 4k someone who watches in 1080p will have better quality than before? Or does the viewer have to select 4k on a 1080p monitor to get the better quality?

Bring On The Monsters Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

hmm that’s a good question. I assume even the Bring On The Monsters Shirt it is in the first place but 1080 footage is better because the original footage doesn’t get as compressed on upload. yes, unless you think they have had the bitrate low for years and years so that one day they could add a higher bitrate option for money I think and am pretty sure they have manipulated the bitrates, and codecs many times over the years and years. 1080p today on YouTube is not the same as it was when 1080p was first on the platform. While this may or may not be true (I’m sure it is) according to YouTube they are not doing anything with the current 1080p. Their only adding a higher “quality” 1080p for premium users. I understand if you don’t trust that, it’s just what they are saying as of now.
