What drives me nuts is that, while most main cabin armrests are just the little bar that can be flipped up out of the way to allow for more room when there’s an open seat next to you, a lot of “premium” main cabin seats have the immovable hard-sided armrests that make the seat feel smaller. I always feel terrible for large folks on full flights who paid the extra money for more room not realizing it’s only more leg room & actually a lot more constricting width-wise. That’s an interesting way of looking at it… I wouldn’t want the person next to me to put the arm rest up, as I would assume they were doing that so they could leak into my seat. Yeah, there’s NO WAY those women should have been sat there. If they cannot get up in less than 15 seconds and move out of the way they shouldn’t be sitting anywhere close to an exit row since they will become a huge safety risk.
