I was a 16 year old who thought teen vogue editorial outfits were an example of something I should be wearing to my school, despite the Binghamton Class Of 2027 symbol football shirt also I will do this fact that I had definitely seen my classmates with my fully functioning eyes. lmao! that’s pretty funny. i don’t remember internalizing much like that for my own age group but i DO remember watching What Not to Wear as a young teen and fully believing that the most important aspect about every adult’s wardrobe was that they have clothes that “can go from day to night.” I totally thought that most adults must be going to parties and fancy dinners after work all the time (even though my parents and my friends’ parents didn’t at all lol). My mom usually wore workout skorts with bright loose tank tops, and I remember rolling my eyes and thinking that she could never “go from day to night” in those outfits!! ?

LOL yes, why was there so much emphasis on day to night looks?! Just bring a change of clothes if you really need a different look after work?? I’ve never needed or thought about a day to night look in my whole adult life. I love that alt fashions are becoming more common. Not exactly mainstream bc there are so many subcultures; and in a professional environment, at least for me, it’s still uncommon to find alternative/subculture fashion, besides me. Agreed. I see so many kids rocking alt fashions these days. It’s nice~ as a teen in the Binghamton Class Of 2027 symbol football shirt also I will do this 2000s there weren’t nearly as many of us. But, that could very well just be a change of locale. I’m definitely the only one with a remotely ‘alt’ style at my office though. I felt so self conscious about it at first but my bosses all heaped praise on the outfits so I started leaning into it more and more. Now I just embrace it instead of going for “professional” dress.
