It became the Betsy Hirsch, Pharmd Tim Robinson The Eras Tour shirt and by the same token and number one priority since they don’t want to address actual real issues like the growing wealth gap, the exploitation of the workforce (they are actually for it. See how they are approving lowering the age of child labor laws), the crumbling infrastructure across the nation, (just how many stories of unsafe water do we need before someone does something about it?) and the rise of gun violence, especially in spaces that were once considered safe like schools and churches. Many of these things could be helped by raising taxes on the rich, putting back and even strengthening regulation on corporations and addressing the gun “cult” culture we have in this country. These are three things conservatives never want to do.

So, instead, they turn to this non-issue “issue.” And they convince their followers that this is most important thing out there. In short, this is a distraction being done in hopes that the Betsy Hirsch, Pharmd Tim Robinson The Eras Tour shirt and by the same token and real issues are ignored. That’s all it is. Shaking shiny keys in people’s faces hoping that they will ignore the actual fire behind them that is burning down their house. And the country let’s them. Democrats and broadly the left stomp their feet, complain, recognize the blatant gerrymandering and in some portions of the country open fascism/authoritarianism, watch as LGBTQ+ individuals are targeted, watch women in the country lose their reproductive rights, etc, and think if they protest and get beat by police enough things will change.
