No the Baby’s day out shirt in other words I will buy this company receives no tax breaks. Yes the charity gets it all. Yes this is better for the charity as they don’t have to pay processing fees on small donations No. They record your $20 as income and then write off your $20 as a donation. It is a wash. They receive absolutely no tax benefit, whatsoever, from your donation. Once had an older cashier at a Walgreens act genuinely affronted at me for not donating to some charity or another that was their current charity drive, like I’m some kind of asshole that hates all children because I wouldn’t donate to their Children’s Ingrown Tonail Association of the week. Look, ma’am. I know what charities that I want to donate to. I’ve done the research on the charities that focus on topics that I find most important, and will actually put their money where their mouth is instead of spending it all of it on advertising. I don’t need a multi-billion dollar corporation telling me that I’m a bad person because I’m not supporting their charity drive, and I don’t need a cashier’s attitude judging me for it either. If you want to give attitude to someone, give it to your leadership for not doing more. Just let me get my energy drink and go.
Baby’s day out shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
They throw out perfectly good food practically every single day because it’s ‘technically’ expired (but still perfectly safe and edible) Then why the Baby’s day out shirt in other words I will buy this actual FUCK don’t they just give that food to families with hungry children who can’t afford to feed them!? Because they have insurance that reimburses them for spoiled goods. Insurance doesn’t pay out if they donate it. It’s amazing we have these companies claiming they’ll support abortion access yet won’t support or pay partially for Healthcare, Dental OR Vision access. The fact they aren’t all three considered part of General Healthcare is absolute horseshit designed to punish the poor. In the 1950s the average F500 CEO made 20x their average employee salary in 2020 they made 360x their average employee salary… that’s not inflation, that’s pure fucking greed. Ironically, for hunger at least, we’re all collectively “donating” just by shopping. Do you think they’d manage to average $0.25 a meal if a healthy market with rampant overproduction didn’t leave food makers and buyers with a ton of excess inventory they’re happy to sell at a pittance rather than throw away? It all depends on the wording and on the charity. When you checkout take note of the charity and give them a quick Google. A lot of charities are pretty scummy and have close ties with the heads of the company they’ve cut a deal with. Other times it’s just a donation for marketing purposes. The wording of the screen at checkout will also tell you if this will be an anonymous donation or a donation in the companies name. Both can’t be used for tax purposes but it does ensure 100% of the money actually goes to the charity. Sometimes they will deduct fees that they probably made up and pocket a small percent. In the grand scheme of things it won’t make a difference but still is scummy.
