This seems poorly worded. It means you can’t WFH any day than Friday. You need to burn a day off instead of trying to wfh on a non-Friday If you’re using paid vacation day, there should be no work done and anyone who does is a sucker. If they are working from home, they have to get paid for it or it’s wage theft. No it’s not legal. They can’t be forced to use vacation and then have to work that day. I’m not sure about New Jersey but I know that in some states if you work for 15 minutes you’re entitled to all your PTO for a day. “No thanks, but can you get me a water?” Or fruit juice, or soda, or pretty much anything you’d like. Most people are just offering to be polite. As a bonus, once you have one of those drinks in your hand, most people will see that you have a drink and you don’t need another one. I feel like programs like DARE and anti drinking and drug campaigns gave everyone this weird expectation that people will be forcing drugs and alcohol on them. And if they aren’t, and actually try to convince you despite you clearly declining then who gives a fuck what those people think of you. Still say no, and walk away if they keep pestering. “Nah, I’m good”. You don’t have to drink and you should never feel pressured to. If someone doesn’t take your first no, might be time to rethink that friendship. My favorite is when everyone knows you don’t drink, but they try to get you to anyway. I experience this with family. Yeah, like your persistence is going to change my mind…. I hate it. It’s like I’ve said my reason for not drinking to them all before. I don’t need to repeat myself every single time they want to partake. Asking, are you sure? Isn’t going to change my mind.
