Here’s how it can get bad. 2 kids, low tide , later in the day… kids been digging for hours and stacking the sand around the hole. Now the hole is 3′ deep but has 2′ of sand piled around the lip. Tide comes in washing out the bottom of the hole. Kids are playing in the puddle at the bottom of the hole. Suddenly, the walls collapse and dump hundreds of pounds of wet sand into the hole, and it instantly goes from fun to fatal.
