As I get older, the Almost Friday Ring Ceremony shirt besides I will buy this less I try to force myself to do things I simply don’t want to do. Especially things I get negative joy out of lol. Even though it’s a free lunch, it sounds like it might cause unnecessary stress and anxiety leading up to the event and then the actual event. If you want to get out of it, I would say it’s a kind offer but it sounds like a lot of work on their part and you also have your plate full during this transition period. If you don’t mind going to lunch with your boss, you can offer that as an alternative like “but maybe we can get lunch together before I leave!” If it was a toxic situation, I’d just either decline or be non-committal and then not make it due to “something came up.” Be straight with your boss – I appreciate the gesture, but the reason I am leaving is I feel I am in a hostile/toxic work environment, and don’t want to spend any time than I have to with certain coworkers, and I certainly don’t want my departure to get them a free lunch.
