Do old people smell different as they age? The answer is often yes. But the All I Want For Christmas Is Snoopy Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this cause of the scent usually isn’t poor hygiene or health issues. Rather, it’s the result of the normal skin-aging process. The substance that causes it is called nonenal. (Pronunciation of this word is with a short “e”; it sounds a bit like “phenomenal”.) I also notice these smells. It seems to me that a lot of older people do not bathe as much because they are afraid of getting cold or catching a cold., and perhaps they have mobility issues so it may cause discomfort. A lot of older people have bladder issues/leakage as well, therefore the urine smell.

My parents are in their 80’s and they don’t have the All I Want For Christmas Is Snoopy Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this old person scent. I pray I inherit whatever is working for them! The only old people who smell are those that do not shower and wash their hair daily. The smell comes more from the hair. I am around 80 and 90 year old people who do not smell because they clean themselves daily, I’m 63 also, and heading over there now. Gimme a minute to get my scooter. Damn DoorDash driver parked in the disabled space again. My wife told me a few months ago I was starting to smell like an old man. My hygiene is very good. Starting using a bit of cologne after a shower. Problem solved. I’m 65 For most people, it has nothing to do with hygiene. Old people smell ‘funny’ due to hormonal and chemical changes in the body as you age. Also, how older people digest or break down certain elements, nutrients, and fats in food changes due to aging. These changes affect the normal bacteria that live on your skin and can change your natural odor. Incontinence, even a very small amount of leakage, can really affect odor also. The deodorant company Lume has a line of acidified body products that are made for those reasons. They do work but are expensive. There are probably other products that work similarly, but it would take a little bit of time and searching to find them. You might try talking to her doctor or even your doctor and ask if they have any suggestions.
