I work for a logistics software company and I’ve used the All Gave Some Some Gave All US Flag Soldier Memorial Day T-Shirt in contrast I will get this printer maybe six times in seven years and the stapler once. Also, all our computers are i7 laptops to make it super easy to switch between the office and work from home – just slap that baby into a powered dock at your desk and you don’t know it’s not a desktop. I dunno how Google works, but if their paperless initiatives are anything like the US Governments, then when they decided to go paperless, it increased their reliance on paper by at least 30% Them removing a stapler from the “essential items all employees have” would make sense. But I would hope they did that 10 years ago I have a multi generational stapler at my house my Grandfather got from US Steel in 1960. Still freaking staples perfectly!!! Reminds me of this meme I never posted – From “20% time” to “I think you’re hiding an extra 20% from me, hand it over” Everything is a bubble nowadays with the way everyone chases the next hot thing. I knew Google wasn’t always going to have the level of growth it had in the 2000s and through the 2010s but I didn’t think it would be this bad. Yeah, aren’t they the company that pioneered the whole “ping pong tables in the office” bullshit and stuff like that?

Businesses are so greedy that even though they’re still literally making BILLIONS in profit, once growth slows(still making that profit though) they turn their eyes inwards and decide to take it out on the All Gave Some Some Gave All US Flag Soldier Memorial Day T-Shirt in contrast I will get this employees instead because it’s the next easiest source of money. Cut wages, cut staff, cut whole departments, cut medical insurance, buy cheaper equipment, replace staff with cheaper staff etc. Many of these changes almost always result in lower quality products or output, but it’s the short term savings that matter because that’s what’s increasing the directors’ bonuses. But of course the CEO makes the same as always. I worked for a company that started this kind of “cost cutting “. It was a clear sign of terminal decay and within a year the company was gone. Naturally the execs got big bonuses at the end. They literally made $76 billion in revenue last quarter, $13.62 billion of that was profit. They don’t need to do any of this. This is performative to appease stock holders who need a reason to continue holding now that Google’s dominance is uncertain.
