Depending on how comfortable you are ask/demand they set a timeline of when this decision will be determined by. That way they can’t keep stringing you along. Ask them to put in writing that they will reassess in 30 day increments so you all get to sit down and review the 60 Years 1964 – 2024 Lynrd Skynyrd Thank You For The Memories Shirt But I will love this progress. If after 30, 60, or 90 days they aren’t moving, tell them no thanks and go back to your normal job. I would say flat out no if theres no pay raise. They created a vacuum, their problem not yours. If they want you to solve it then its gonna cost them. Since you are taking on additional duties, I assume direct reports ask for an interim raise. Request that the interim role transition no later than six months out. Ask for formal evaluations monthly. State that you do not want this open-ended. The company must define expectations and set monthly goals on where you should be at the end of each month. These expectations benefit you and the organization.

Just make sure you negotiate a definitive time period for the 60 Years 1964 – 2024 Lynrd Skynyrd Thank You For The Memories Shirt But I will love this pay rise and look up what people in similar roles get elsewhere. Look for a new job elsewhere. Once you get one, tell your current employers they have two weeks to match your pay with your current responsibilities or you’re leaving. TBH I would just accept the title even though there are no guarantees on pay increase and edit your LinkedIn and resumé accordingly. If things seem to be going well after a couple months or so, ask them what the plan is for the raise. If they don’t have one, start looking for a new job at your new level. A lot of companies are worried about an impending recession right now, so that may be the reason for all of this, but my thinking is always get that new and improved job title while the getting is good. It may be extra work for no pay for awhile, but it will likely lead to more money in the future whether you have to leave your company or not. Not a fan of trial periods. From my experience, this time can be ok under certain conditions – however, more times than not you are giving employers time to find reasons not to move you into that posiiton.
