I have never criticized anyone for drinking, I gladly socialize with people who drink, I love going to bars and pubs with friends, etc. But when someone asks me what I will have and I say a coke, or a juice, or seltzer, or anything non-alcoholic, BOOM!, I immediately get a lecture about how I am preachy, holier-than-thou, etc. Even if I answer « No, really, it’s just a personal taste » — no doing, I’ll get a half hour lecture about why « it’s normal to drink », « c’mon, just try one, you’ll see, you’ll love it, » etc. It doesn’t even end there. I love to drink, but the minute that I decide I’ve reached my limit and order a water, I immediately hear a joke about how I’m “going hard on the water” or something. It’s like if you don’t let yourself get blackout drunk than you’re not good enough at drinking. Excuse me for not wanting to puke in the morning, lol

Truth. The guys who get way too into BBQ can be just as obnoxious TBH. I’m talking to you upwind neighbor Wally, who has to smoke me out EVERY GODDAMN NIGHT!
