Not the 3 Point Contest Champion poster shirt so you should to go to store and get this same as you OP, but I went into a store once and another customer noticed that I was on holiday from the neighbouring country. I went to walk out, and the employee asked if I wanted my stuff, and I said no I’ll go somewhere else where my custom is appreciated. I heard (did not confirm) that big companies that ask for donations while you’re checking out, have already paid said charity x amount and are trying to recoup the amount they paid by having customers “donate”. Then you heard wrong. Donations to charity are printed on the receipt for your taxes. Claiming your donation on their own taxes or keeping the money to recoup their donation is tax fraud, a felony. You think their accountants are going to risk jail?

When you donate to a charity through a business such as a liquor store, that business gets to claim the 3 Point Contest Champion poster shirt so you should to go to store and get this donation against their taxes. False, sorry. There’s a debit and a credit in a pass-thru account. It’s in and out. There is nothing for the store to deduct. It’s not even like they can pocket the cash these days because nobody pays cash anymore. It’s only good for “look how much we care about the community” purposes, but has zero tax benefit. Not that that makes it less gross for a multi-milllion dollar organization to nag their customers for spare change, but at least there’s no write-off involved. To be fair, most of us asking (which we have to, by the way, we get chewed out for not getting enough donations) don’t want to bother you either. ‘Ok your total is X. Would you like to round up for donations?’ Is short and sweet, and if I continue by saying ‘Furry Fast Food matches all donations that goes towards X Children’s’ then people are more likely to just get aggravated. They want to get their stuff and leave. I get it. Me too. The lady in this post shouldn’t have been passive-aggressive with that ‘never-mind’, but on the other hand I also feel because we’ve been making less than half of what we normally do and our managers are blaming us for not trying harder somehow
