Since then, have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, my back that required surgery few years ago has been acting up again. I mean, a lot has changed in a year and I feel like somwhat downhill slope has begun. I’ve lost some weight and been mora active than I’ve been in years, so there’s that but… Yeah. The first time it hit me was about 2 years ago, when my team at work got a new manager. She’s two years younger than me. I don’t resent that, she’s really good at her job and I’ve never had ambitions to go into management. It’s just a weird realisation. Also whenever I coach interns or trainees. I remember my own traineeship vividly, and because I spend a lot of time on the internet, I still feel fairly connected with “young people culture”. But they see me the way I saw the 40-year-olds at my first job, not necessarily old-old, but definitely in a different stage than they are. I make a conscious effort not to be the “How do you do, fellow kids” kind of adult.
