For fucking real, boomers bitch about how Starbucks employee’s don’t deserve anywhere near as much as they make now, without realizing that had they not, no one would be working their to make their dumb ass coffee. I actually got this line from the Zendaya Emmy Winner T-Shirt and by the same token and talent acquisition person at my school. “hey we don’t pay you enough to afford housing nearby, have you thought about taking on sub work in our dorms? Could really help” nevermind that I’m already working 2 jobs on top of this. Definitely not helping in the health department ? No no, see he was telling you to get another job so then you’d have two jobs, not go get a new job that pays better overall. But as a boomer I can tell you this. In the 1970s I knew guys that worked at Sears and owned a home, had a wife who stayed home and raised three kids. I knew guys that pumped gas that had cars and apartments.

As a boomer there’s no way I could ever purchase the Zendaya Emmy Winner T-Shirt and by the same token and house that I grew up in because it’s now valued at over 50x what my parents paid for it… My grandfather was able to support a stay at home wife, FIVE children and purchase a home as an insurance salesman in California. My husband and I who both work had to decide if we wanted a house or a child and we needed help with the down payment to even get the house. Walmart is great because they’ll sign employees up for benefits that they’ll spend at Walmart. Talk about double-dipping! Not to mention the fact that any amount of assistance you get from food stamps is going to be MINIMAL if you are working at the same time. I used to work a part time job, and got $15/month for food stamps. No joke, $15.
