Edit: I was unaware that the You’re a superstar and you wear it so well shirt it is in the first place but alpha theory was disproven. I still believe there’s a dominance thing with dogs. It’s obviously stronger in some dogs than others. It’s pretty easy to see. Your dog will stare you down. If you stare back they will eventually look away in defeat. You can tell they are like blah I lost. It’s a small challenge but it’s still a challenge. At least every dog I’ve ever had did it. Small sample size but seems to be legit. The “alpha” theory has been disproven by the way. It doesn’t exist. They noted that IN CAPTIVITY there was some sort of hierarchy between wolves, but the reality is that they’re pack animals that mostly follow the parents being the leaders of the pack and the young males going off to make their own packs.

And then then dog gets a job and you get to stay at home all day watching TV. But you can’t use the You’re a superstar and you wear it so well shirt it is in the first place but restroom until they get home. For every dog I’ve ever owned, the second they win or you let them win, they come right back for more! It’s like they understand it’s about the journey and not the destination lol I always make sure to tell them to drop it when I’m ready to end the game. I’ll let my girl pull it away a couple of times in good fun, but at the end she knows it’s time to “drop it” while I’m still holding the toy, and I return the toy to her after she’s done that. I feel it’s an important boundary to withhold, because I know that if she has something in her mouth that she shouldn’t have, she will have the built in “I have to drop it when I’m told but I’ll get something good out of dropping it” which is important for her safety. This is important, my wife does “trade” when she wants the dog to drop something so he knows he’ll get a treat or a toy if he gives up the suspicious yard-snack he found.
