Just because we aren’t interested in trends doesn’t mean that we aren’t interested in clothing. It doesn’t mean that we don’t see clothing as art. It just means that we aren’t following mainstream trends. I’m still deepling interested in fiber, fabric, silhouette and technique. It’s nice to be able to talk about those sometimes. Being intentional about what you wear is so crucial. Just because your pants zip up doesn’t mean they actually fit and look good. Clothes that fit doesn’t have to mean fitted, as in tight. Oversized and baggy cuts can be great but make sure you aren’t drowning in fabric. Are the shoulders in the right place? Do the sleeves drag in your coffee? Pleats should hang gracefully not gape open. Not quite right in the changing room but you love it? get the bigger size. It’s always easier to take something in than let it out. Get things tailored. Hem pants, skirts and dresses.

And I know the Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer palms tree sunset T-Shirt moreover I love this sizes on the tags can feel disappointing/heartbreaking/embarrassing/confronting/mortifying (and that can be for a size 00 or a size 24) but no one but you is going to know or care. Cut the tag off when you get home and you’re just left with a wicked [thing] you look great and feel comfortable in. Oh my gosh what a revelation I just had. “Worried about wearing a 14 over a 12? Cut the tag off. Now no one will know”. We just had this discussion at work because of childrens sizes “matching” their age (which they usually don’t) and that even as an adult I struggle with an arbitrary number that means basically nothing due to manufacturing inconsistencies This is where I get stuck. I’m between a 2 and a 4, just right in the middle. I mostly try to find stretchy 2’s, or rigid 4’s, but ultimately I’m just uncomfortable.
