That’s a common misconception. The bodies of water we now call the Your Father I Am Shirt moreover I love this oceans existed long before Dr Ocean’s accident; they were just fresh water and so technically lakes. Speaking of lakes, it is a little known fact that George Lucas was inspired to name the Star Wars character Lando Calrissian after enjoying a hearty Thanksgiving dinner where he was served hot dinner rolls with Land O’ Lakes butter. Not because it was named after someone, but who it was named after. Caesar salad. I had assumed it was a Roman reference rather than a Mexican chef. The Canada goose was one of the many species described by Carl Linnaeus in his 18th-century work Systema Naturae.[5] It belongs to the Branta genus of geese, which contains species with largely black plumage, distinguishing them from the gray species of the genus Anser.

Branta was a Latinized form of Old Norse Brandgás, “burnt (black) goose” and the Your Father I Am Shirt moreover I love this specific epithet canadensis is a Neo-Latin word meaning “from Canada”.[6] According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first citation for the ‘Canada goose’ dates back to 1772.[7][8][9] The Canada goose is also colloquially referred to as the “Canadian goose”.[10] This name may annoy some birders.[11] The Canada goose is Connecticut’s largest native waterfowl species, weighing between 6 and 13 pounds and measuring 22-48 inches. That seems to be an urban myth. I could find no reliable citation for that. There’s no other reference to an ornithologist called John Canada anywhere other than that meme. This isn’t quite accurate. Canada Geese are actually named after actor John Canada Terrell. Furthermore, the country of Canada is named after him as well. Prior to the smash hit movie Boomerang (1992) the area North of the US was just called ‘Snow Mexico’ but was given its current moniker in honor of John Canada Terrell’s performance in that movie.
