They are literally 2 different measuring systems. Also the You Missed Trump 2024 US American Flag Middle Finger T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this UK still uses imperial units. So the meme is like quadruple wrong. Yeah, that’s how conversion between 2 measurement systems works, but neither one is based on the other. One yard is based on 3 feet, a foot is based off 12 inches, an inch is based on 3 barley seeds placed lengthwise, and the rest is fractions of 4. The metric system is based on multiples of 10, and of course, there is volume and weight, which in both cases are measured differently from each other and not based on the other measurement system. Hahaha… now I am imagining the variations between a handful of miles all calculated off of different sets of 3 barley seeds. The Imperial system has been redefined as static values of metric measurements for precise conversions, as well as no one questioning the length of an average barley seed

You’re talking about origins and conversion. The yard is defined based on the You Missed Trump 2024 US American Flag Middle Finger T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this metre. 3 barley seeds would be an incredibly inaccurate definition to use today. The meter was based on the circumference of the earth, specifically a ten-millionth of the length between the north pole and the equator. But because average people can’t just go outside and measure the earth just to have a reference, the meter bar was made. The kilogram was based on the weight of water in a specific volume which is derived from the meter. What better things to base your measurement system on than the planet we live on and the substance that gives us life? So they defined a metre by seeing how long it took light to go 1 metre and then saying that’s the definition of a metre….

Meter was initially an arbitrary* measurement of distance. But for a precise measuring system, it needed to be fixed with a definition with any fundamental constant ( h,c,G). That’s why it’s defined like that. What I mean by arbitrary is that a meter could have been slightly longer/ shorter. The first person who chose this length happened to choose this exact length and could have easily considered a shorter/ longer distance to be a meter. If the You Missed Trump 2024 US American Flag Middle Finger T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this length of a meter were to be changed, then all the constants derived from this very length will also change, but the system of measurement ( pm, A⁰, um, mm, cm, m, km) will remain in base 10. The meter was originally based on the size of earth but the official meter stick kept changing in size because of temperature changes (even in a perfect chamber it got smaller by a few atoms) so they changed it to use light as a definition based on what the length was exactly at that time

the You Missed Trump 2024 US American Flag Middle Finger T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this metre likely had a different definition but they changed the definition to be based on fundamental constants of the universe. The problem you have when using the speed of light as a constant is that both distance and time are arbitrarily defined based on something else. It‘s not a problem, if either time or length are defined by another universal constant. Wich is the case. The second is defined by some vibration of Cesium. Or more precisely The second […] is defined by taking the fixed numerical value of the caesium frequency, ΔνCs, the unperturbed ground-state hyperfine transition frequency of the caesium 133 atom, to be 9192631770 when expressed in the unit Hz, which is equal to s−1.

Both the You Missed Trump 2024 US American Flag Middle Finger T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this speed of light and the unperturbed ground-state hyperfine transition frequency of cesium 133 will never change, thus the meter is accurately defined by both the speed of light and… that frequency The speed of light in a vacuum is fixed so once you do that measurement of how long it takes to go a meter, you can reliably re-create the meter. Just us, Liberia and Burma. Funny though, you never think of those other 2 when you think of countries that have their shit together….. Imperial system is better because it includes nautical miles(2025 yards) which is equal to a minute of latitude. This is extremely important for navigating ships and planes etc. Funny how imperial measurements have been redefined in terms of metric, yet some folks still puff their chest and think that imperial is superior somehow. Literally all of americas infrastructure was made in imperial units ever since its founding. At this point, it could be potentially dangerous and confusing to change everything to metric just to ease European’s superiority complex about units. It’s literally easier to just keep using the well established imperial units here than switch to metric and have weird decimals for everything. I’ll never understand why American’s seem to always default to referring to the rest of the world as Europeans. You know that there are other continents too right? And that they’re also all using Metric? How would it be more exact? You can always have smaller tolerances by decreasing, well, the tolerance. Works equally well with both systems in this case.
Like an inch could be 2.5cm This would automatically make a foot exactly 30cm A yard 90cm And a mile would be 1540 meters.
Lets see what happens to the You Missed Trump 2024 US American Flag Middle Finger T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this one in China in the middle of a hurricane. Oh? the Chinese one is above ground and not so prone to flooding during once in a hundred year weather events? Just moving this up the chain so more people will see it. LittleBirdLover says it’s ok that China murders Falun Gong practitioners by the millions to sell their organs because she thinks their religion is weird. She also says Uyghur genocide is just self-defense… but she says minorities are safer in China than the U.S. Weird strawman but ok. You’re the one calling cults, minorities and Charles Manson a defender of minority’s rights Lmao. It’s not a weird connection to point out that you think it’s ok for your country to commit genocide against Uyghur people and Falun Gong practitioners, while you speak out against how minorities are treated in the US. It’s very relevant.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
