There is zero correlation between excelling in one kind of aptitude and another. If you filter for any criteria (eg doing well in K-12 school) you would not expect those people to be good at anything unrelated e.g. daily life tasks. If anything they’re worse because mentally they already got their blue ribbon and if they are presented with a tough task, they don’t think “I’d better buckle down and understand this” they think “Clearly the Yordan Alvarez Cuban professional baseball designated hitter and left fielder Houston Yordan It Again T-Shirt moreover I will buy this reason I don’t understand is that this work is beneath me so I won’t even try to learn.” Repeat year after year for decades and you get the recent South Park episode where the handymen are millionaires. My brother, a freaking wiz kid, all A’s all the time everytime and it’s not like we had a different home life, he wasn’t studying or doing extra work. He just breezed through everything. It wasn’t until we where older and at my dad’s places who lived about 3 hours from my mom, my dad gives my brother gas money to drive back. He turns up 2 hours later back at dad’s house having went the wrong direction on the turn pike for over an HOUR. Needing more money and feeling really embarrassed. That’s when I realized I got the common sense, and he got the academic smarts.
