When he says he’s hungry 5 minutes later and he asks for candy as a snack, I pull out his plate, show it to him and ask if he wants it heated up or not. Even if I did make my toddler sit there for a while longer, I wouldn’t make him sit there without me sitting there as well with my plate still in front of me too. To him then it’s just still dinner time and not some punishment. Making dinner seem like a punishment is going to make every dinner so terrible for everyone. Exactly how I do it. People in this thread acting like there is only one small window to eat that plate that was made. They can eat the same exact meal as the adults, it’s just on their time. I’ve seen like 30 comments say “if they don’t eat dinner, they will just go grab candy”.
