Well first, the Yellowstone fan symbol vintage shirt But I will love this valuation of any company (and thereby their stock) is fluid and dependent on finding a buyer. The reason why he paid $44b for it is because he offered to buy the company for that value without reviewing any of their margins, prospective growth and (most importantly) the health of their user base. You may remember Elon making a lot of noise before buying the company about how most of Twitters active users were just bots. This is a major concern to advertisers (the source of most of Twitters revenue) because it means that their advertising dollars are being spent to expose their brand to entities that do not present any customer potential. This would heavily devalue Twitter as a means of generating ad revenue.

This “most of Twitters users are bots” claim would have been something he could use as a reason to avoid paying the Yellowstone fan symbol vintage shirt But I will love this $44b to buy the company if he hadn’t signed away his right to review the viability of Twitter before buying it. When he tried to bail on the purchase anyway, Twitters stakeholders threatened to sue him to force him to buy the company because their stake in Twitter would immediately appreciate 5x over its value, something they could only dream of before this. In other words, because he didn’t take the time to ensure his investment was sound prior to making it and instead signed legally binding documents forcing himself to go through the purchase at the value he himself had set, Elon had absolutely no choice but to pony up $44 billion dollars for a company that, at the time of his purchase, was widely valued at roughly $8-9 billion.
