I used to drink a little in my 30s, but now it’s mostly a glass of wine here or there. I’ve had to drop it for medical reasons now and again, and don’t miss it. “Normal”, is doing what you feel is right for you.. If you don’t want to and have no interest in drinking, don’t! That’s not lame, it’s smart. Or maybe worse, remembering embarrassing things you said or did. I can’t say as to whether that would make you an outcast, but I would hope not. So much of it depends on where you live, your culture, and the people you spend your time around. But in many places, not drinking is becoming more popular and it’s a respected choice.

No it isn’t a bad idea not to drink. Don’t be afraid to try it with a parent or a friend but in general it’s a good habit to not be chuggin that shit anyways. Especially in high school. Stay away from that shit at all costs then, it’s just better for you that way. I’ll occasionally drink a beer, but I have little to no desire to. I’d normally rather just drink water or a diet coke or something. For some people, it becomes a serious addiction though. If you’re not interested in doing it, I see no reason to try. I don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything. 22M here and I don’t drink. I’m also not a very extroverted person and so I was never really pressured to drink before I turned 18. My parents were also very responsible teaching me to be careful with alcohol so that’s another reason why I didn’t care for it. Now that I’m an adult I still don’t find it interesting and if my friends offer me some I just politely decline and that’s it. So no, you wouldn’t be lame if you don’t drink. You just have your preference and that’s it. If you do drink at some point just be careful not to go overboard and if you go out with friends don’t let them pressure you into drinking if you don’t want to.
