It’s not all of them and many people who almost flunked out of high school were just lazy idiots, but there are an examples of this. I have a friend who worked in a lab for years, did applied maths in school, straight As, etc. But he once told me his brain cannot process sudoku puzzles. Doing thing’s well isn’t about being finished first. Academic intelligence does not equate to “street smarts” which I’ve always thought of as “life skills”. Some people might be super street/life smart but did terrible in school and vice versa. I was a gifted kid who did horrible after elementary school and was barely able to function at life until my 30s. I read lots of books and knew a little about a lot of crap but didn’t know what taxes were or that you had to pay off credit cards. There are different kinds of smart. I sucked in school but have an IQ around 135 Figure that shit out. I can fix things I have no idea how they work but I just know how to fix it. Life is strange and things will make no sense but that is what makes life interesting. Smart people are dumb And Dumb people are smart. First, to get it out of the way: the school someone attends can influence their development but isn’t the only factor. At the end of primary school, my two friends and I all took the test to get into the local selective high school. Two of us got in, one didn’t. Out of the two of us who got into the school, one of us went, and one of us went to a private Christian highschool, leaving the third to go to the local public high school (that didn’t have a very good reputation).

I got diagnosed with Autism and varying levels of dyslexia as an adult. Being 23 and finally understanding why my brain seemed weird despite me being relatively smart made so much sense. People assigned female at birth typically get diagnosed with learning and cognitive disabilities less than others People aren’t good at everything. My dad had degrees coming out of his Ying Yang, and spoke a dozen languages. But he was a hopeless twit in every day matters. Being slow while completing tasks isn’t indicative of intelligence.
