To me I still feel like a child and I am not ready yet to take any such decisions. It’s like it’s their impending responsibility to marry me off toh they keep pestering me about it. The talks have gotten more frequent and as time passes it makes me more and more anxious. It feels like a time bomb. I have so much I want to do and I haven’t even found the person I want to settle with. Why is getting married such a thing. Why can’t I just live the way I want to. Several girl friends of mine are facing similar issues and it’s heartbreaking to see such less understanding. My work location is away from home and I feel like I can’t even stay at home peacefully anymore. I don’t feel like visiting. I don’t feel I belong there anymore. Is it even my home? Do I have any home? I don’t want to move out. I love my family but they just don’t get it. They just see it as a checkpoint that one must cross no matter what. I’ve never felt so helplessly stressed in my entire life. I can’t sleep with all these thoughts. Even my relatives keep saying things like “look what happened to that cousin of yours who didn’t marry on time, look who she ended up with”.. “you’ll also end up like that if you don’t marry in time”… I don’t understand this behaviour and it makes me so angry. I feel all alone. Not one person who gets it. Despite there being so many failed marriages in the family and so many unhappy people, they still encourage getting married asap. I absolutely hate this. Brown families don’t even listen. “Talking” isn’t really a thing. I feel so stuck and no longer feel like talking at home. I am really tired..and could also mention that if you have a well-established career before having children, you would 1) have a better understanding of where you are headed in life and could therefore provide a more stable environment for the child in accordance with that trajectory, 2) could take better care of yourself in case of marital problems.

Think about marriage and kids in 30s. Work hard and save money and also do some hobbies that you like. After marriage and kids you don’t have a life of your own. If u live away from home, come up w excuses to avoid going home. And once they start bringing rishtas, you can always reject them for something or the other.
