Foxtons are the Whitney Houston The Queen Of R&B And Soul I Will Always Love You T-Shirt But I will love this symptom, the cause is landlords and sellers doing what’s best for them at the expense of everyone else, in a completely unregulated market. I have no truck with “all estate agents are bad” but Foxtons really push that principle to the limit for me. Looking at a house they had listed recently for sale and it was such an incredibly woeful… really, genuinely bad experience I was moved to leave a one star review: Their listing details were incredibly unhelpful/brief – I persisted as the house looked really interesting and with a big garden. They didn’t pick up the phone despite multiple attempts and when they eventually did, they put my partner on hold for 12 minutes. Turns out their listing details were insanely misleading on multiple fronts – overly optimistic / inaccurate photos, not clear on sale format (which is a pretty big one). Specifically – they were using old photos before the garden had been sold off to build another massive house; the house was for auction but nowhere on the details did it say so other than a tiny small print saying “Foxtons auctions” and it specifically directed you to a normal sales office. I wish I could have given zero stars and I can’t imagine who as a seller would want to list with them. Truly appalling. Bruh… add Dexters in the same ring with them. Battle for the worst estate agents in town… literally got stiffed by them after they applied extreme amounts of pressure for us to accept a 27 month contract with no break clause. The kicker? The guy asked for my card details for the holding deposit over the phone, making me insist I ask my co-tenants first… god damn, what slimy people. They came crawling back giving break clauses all over the place once we pulled out. I only had the pleasure of making sure they didn’t win the multi-agency let on the flat

It’s weird, I remember nothing about the Whitney Houston The Queen Of R&B And Soul I Will Always Love You T-Shirt But I will love this estate agent being either good or bad from buying our place (when we were first time buyers so tbf no experience of dealing with them as a seller), but I would def just go back to them to sell because there are SO many bad ones out there. If they made no lasting impact on me then at least they weren’t actively terrible. We used Winkworths in 2019. I had a terrible experience looking to buy with them. I was very specific about my requirements – e.g. I wanted a period property. Multiple times the agents would take me to a period place, then drive me to a new build or ex council after. I said so many times I’m not interested. Even in the car on the way over, and they would sort of just apologetically wriggle their way around things and take me anyway. I heard later that it was apparently company policy to take buyers to multiple properties, even if they didn’t want to. It was crazy being driven about saying ‘no I don’t want to see this place you are taking me to!’
