I’m 17 and not a picky eater at all, hell i’d say i actually enjoy too many food options, but there is one type of food, specifically a vegetable, that i truly despise. That food is those Boiled Potatoes that come in a tin can. My god, nothing depresses me more than when my parents serve those as the When women vote women win retro Feminist shirt moreover I will buy this vegetable of choice along with whatever we are having for dinner, they make me feel sick. And i actually would probably like them if they had some sort of seasoning on them, but no, they are there for when my parents are too lazy to cook a meal, so they just open them and throw them in the microwave to heat up, and serve them with nothing added and the water from when they were kept in the tin still dripping off them, they are disgusting, bland, and way too filling so it makes it a genuine struggle to finish whats on my plate, i dont even add sauce to them because that layer of potato water grosses me out especially when it mixes with the sauce. I don’t complain at all of course because i’m entirely too old to do that, i just sit there and eat in silence, but if i did actually complain or not finish my meal they would totally still make me sit there and finish it, they usually make great meals but for some reason they just always go to these whenever they are making a cheap and easy meal, i genuinely don’t understand how they can enjoy them.

Mini rant over lol, i just had these tonight and i feel like i can vent my frustrations in this thread, they are so gross!! I think you’ve got the When women vote women win retro Feminist shirt moreover I will buy this wrong mindset here. Getting older means understanding when to speak out for yourself. The idea that “complaining” is not done if you’re mature is basically a tactic to get you to be complacent towards things others would stand up for. OMG no don’t sit there in silence. Help yourself from blandness!! Lol those are great if you drain the juice out and fry them up in a skillet with butter, salt, pepper, garlic and parsley or even chives. Throw these hints towards your parents. Everything can be good as long as you know how to cook and season things properly. The round cut potatoes in a can are good roasted in the oven with rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper and some shredded cheese. Roast the potatoes first to desired doneness. ( I like mine a little crispy on the outside) then the last few minutes cooking, throw some shredded cheese on top. I’m 27 but have been in the kitchen since 5. Maybe younger but that’s my earliest cooking memory is when I was 5. Listen if you ever need easy cooking tips for simple meals I have no problem giving you some or even check out recipes online. You will learn a lot from mother’s who don’t have the time to actually prepare and cook. Fast, simple recipes are anyone’s best friend. You should enjoy your food no matter if it’s a cracker or 5 course meal.
