You wouldn’t let a human baby sit in their shit-filled diaper for a solid month, so why would you treat a cat/dog that way? I would say start with an intervention explaining the What A Beautiful World It Would Be If People Had Hearts Like Dogs shirt and I love this harm that not cleaning the litter box can cause. Try to help them improve before suggesting they get rid of their cat, I don’t know that that will go very well regardless of how well intentioned. We’ve always cleaned our cat’s litter box every day, sometimes even twice a day. Once we had to go travel so we let my partner’s sister babysit our cat. She’s also a cat owner so we just assumed it’d be fine. Turned out she’s the kind of person that cleans the litter box only once a week… Our poor cat had to pee on the bathroom mat for almost a month.

Have a close friend who was watching our dog and cat once. I told her to scoop the What A Beautiful World It Would Be If People Had Hearts Like Dogs shirt and I love this litter box everyday. Her and I have both worked in animal boarding facilities and she regularly house/petsits for people AND she has a cat herself so I wasn’t worried. Well a few days into my trip she texts me to say my cat peed on her coat. I felt so bad and I was so confused. He only pees if his litter is dirty/if there isn’t enough litter in the pan. I told her this and she said she must’ve not given him enough litter. I felt a little better now that I knew he probably didn’t have a UTI or anything, so I let it go at the time. Well we came back and I went to clean the litter boxes for the first time. Sure enough, I looked in and saw that there was no way she had been scooping everyday like I’d asked her to. It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t the instructions I’d given and you could tell she hadn’t kept up with it like I’d asked. She’s still great with my dog so I still ask her to petsit when needed, but I kind of side eye her about some stuff now. At least she hopefully learned her lesson after getting her coat ruined Agreed. I have two cats and they each got their own box that gets cleaned daily. This is repulsive. Some people should not have animals n
