If even one person takes a scooter instead of a car, you’ve already gained a whole lot of parking space overall. I would say it’s more about them standing in the way of pedestrians. This I can understand. But for car parking the math simply doesn’t work out. If you want to be able to park your car conveniently, you should be all for scooters. You have to photograph it in Paris too, the problem is that there are a non negligible amount of assholes whose pastime consists in moving rental bikes to the most annoying places possible after they are parked, right in the middle of the sidewalk or pedestrian crossings for example.

Good. Ban this crap everywhere, please. They are a plague in my town, lying everywhere, blocking pathways and bikelanes. People can´t behave on those things. I’ve been to many big cities and seen these everywhere. They have to be parked or tied somewhere on the side of the curb after use. In Paris they truly were just laying around on their sides wherever. The city could have implemented laws to better control what the companies were doing but they just didn’t. While they could have by now, most cities didn’t have the opportunity to implement laws before the scooters became a thing. These companies just kinda showed up one day and dumped hundreds of scooters across the city with no warning. Not an excuse for still having nothing, but at least initially there was no opportunity. That’s what they are going to do, in a drastic way… Plus laws have already been passed in Paris just before the pandemic, and after a period of compliance things are going downhill again.
