But there are a ton of different cultures all mixed in with a lot of traditional references to the “old country”. There are Polish festivals, German festivals, Dutch festivals. There are small communities of Hungarians and Irish and Italians. Further north you have the Finnish and Welsh and Norwegians. Most of my ancestors didn’t even speak English until my grandparents’ or great-grandparents’ generations because their local communities were so strong here. Go to any potluck and you are going to find all sorts of traditional dishes (or their Americanized versions). But it would be silly to call any of these “white” culture. They are German culture, Dutch culture, Hungarian culture, etc.

I’ve got a few friends from Europe, India and Asia, and they’ve all commented more than once they think it’s fantastic that in any given city in the US you can find a Mexican taco place, some take on Chinese food, sushi, a pizza/pasta/Italian joint, Indian and/or Thai curry, maybe a German food spot, plus the basic meat/potatoes fare. Sure, a lot of that stuff might not be as “authentic” as if you were in Bavaria or Shanghai or Mumbai, but they’re usually within sight of the originals. Meaning you get to experience at least a bit of all these places all at once if you want. Same with the cultural festivals. Oktoberfest, or Greek Days, or Lunar New Year, or whatever all show up in various iterations and most the celebrations I’ve ever seen are more than happy to have anyone join in and participate and appreciate the celebrations, meaning you get to learn new stuff without having a passport. All this is something at least sort of unique to America
