I hope this Metaverse experiment bankrupts Facebook. This is even more half baked than Second Life or PlayStation Home, believe it or not. I hope everyone realizes that “Meta” is primarily an advanced ad agency and they will 100% monetize the We Wear Blue For Familial Dysautonomia Awareness Women T-Shirt it is in the first place but meta verse with hybrid VR/RL products. Just spitballing: Your avatar gets wings when you order them in real life (feels weird to even refer to it as such), other avatars see it, maybe want same, plus you can have rewards pay out virtually and/or conventionally; etc, etc. Perhaps you want your virtual space to represent your real space with those same products, and you must either sell your attention/time or pay a small monetary fee to skip and receive that item in your meta home or something. I do not mean to imply that there won’t be benefits of expanded VR integration or that a strict anti-technology perspective is the only solution but I cannot form a logical explanation for why Meta (or really any other large tech company) should be trusted with the stewardship of the mental health and social ramifications of their push for building a common and interconnected VR space. We don’t even know what’s going on underneath the hood of their current generation systems yet the evidence is pretty clear that the effects ripple through society in consequential ways.

I am 43, call me old I don’t care, it is such a ridiculous thing to do! Buy real food and go feed the homeless for fuck sake! Could we just dump the metaverse idea and agree that it’s dumb just like 3D TVs. Yes, I get that corporate loves 3D. But it’s just a gimmick that wears off after awhile. Plus it makes some people motion sick. Get the fuck outta here, I’m done. I am waiting for Real Player One and they give us our daily lives in a fucking VR set
