Assuming you’re in the US, every state is required by federal law to have a workforce board that can assist people with finding employment. I’m in Florida and ours is called CareerSource. They will help you to write a good resume and show you how to tailor it to various jobs, using key words, as many employers have systems in place that will disregard resumes that don’t have specific key words in them. Additionally, they do market research to determine what jobs have a “bright outlook” trajectory and will help to re-train you if your current field doesn’t have any jobs available. They also typically have career counselors who can do assessments to see where you may be a good fit and get the most job satisfaction. They receive federal funding for these services so they are free to you. I would suggest doing a bit of research to see where your local office is and set up an appointment.
