(of course this is from my own singular experience, I know there’s plenty of black woman who struggle with that, same as everyone.) Strong/fierce, a unique and fearless eye for style, tend to stand up for what they believe is right, confidence, and I don’t know how to describe it other than a deep soulful attitude that just radiates somehow. Guess I’ll just be stuck using a pillow in the driver’s seat for the rest of my life. Seriously! Thankfully, my job keeps me moving and I have a short commute. I couldn’t imagine sitting on this boney thing for 8 hours. I generally find black women have fantastic builds. I like a little muscle on my women and a lot of the black women I see have god-given musculature that in turn just gives them great physiques overall. Underrated feature IMO. My experience as a super shy white lady is that strangers will look out for me when I’m not standing up for myself. I don’t think a shy black lady would have that same experience so it’s probably out of necessity.

I can tell that people expect me to be what is considered to be a stereotypical black woman when I approach them (receptionists, customer service etc.). Then it’s as if they let their shoulders down and relax when they realize that I’m really quiet and shy. I experienced the same thing at my last job, our manager was a black woman who later got promoted and replaced with a white man lol. While she was our manager the vibe was solid. The place felt safe, I didn’t feel belittled by the people we served. She brought an air of respect to the whole team, had a zero tolerance for drama, treated everyone like adults, etc. Once she left things went soooo down hill.

I gotta agree, they may be strict at times but they will jump through every hoop imaginable to make sure everyone’s needs are met. And they’re damn good at it, too. This part. One of my supervisors at work is an older black lady and she is my favorite because she is so gentle, but doesn’t take ANY crap from ANYBODY. I love it. She never curses, but she can make it feel like she did by the tone of her voice. My favorite thing ever is when she greets me at work with “how ya derrn baby” and we hug. There’s also some element of selection bias that influences the way I would view her competence. Given the systemic discrimination and frank amount of shit that society throws at women and people of colour, a black woman in a position of authority must have overcome a mountain of bias and discrimination to get there. In my mind, she must be extraordinary at whatever she’s up there for. I recognize this is absolutely not always the case, but it does affect my perception going in. I think to myself “this is a woman swimming uphill her entire life, but here she is.” Someone who is able to climb above her competitors who all start up so much higher and with a mountain of privilege, must be a total badass.

And black female bosses are awesome to work for. I have had several in my life and I would work my ass off for them because they were so good at what they did. I miss my last boss. She was from Nigeria and she fostered a very open relationship and I felt I could tell her anything. A girls girl through and through. We age gracefully, have smooth skin, generally we smell good (cocoa butter, something sweet) great at parties, are usually the Washington Commanders Spiral Heavyweight Shirt but in fact I love this most helpful and accepting of other racial groups, have nice bodies, we can dance, great at doing hair, good cooks And it’s not because you laugh at them……it’s because they have a unique ability to communicate simple truths in a “down home”, matter-of-fact way…..

I don’t know if it’s a stereotype, just my experience as a white woman being around a lot of black women in my jobs and community, but I feel like Black women are much more confident and accepting of their bodies. They at least aren’t afraid to have curves and flaunt them. Black women are extremely hard working and resilient (much more than they should ever have to be). As a socially awkward black woman without any sense of fashion or friends I really am the Washington Commanders Spiral Heavyweight Shirt but in fact I love this antithesis of that stereotype. Lol, it’s almost comical. I totally love this thread as a Black woman because, we get so much bad stereotypes about us and I’m beyond grateful to read such good things about us. We are some truly amazing women.Most of the time I have met black women they dress so well. Growing up there was a African American family upstairs. We could smell the delicious food. We were also invited to eat so I always associate a welcoming nurturing attitude too. Not sure if these are stereotypes though. Good at setting boundaries and speaking up for what is right! The black women I’ve worked with were the only ones who tipped me off that I was being discriminated against at work for being lgbt. When they were considered “rude” it was often for politely setting a boundary at work that the rest of us had just been trained to put up with. I’ve grown a lot as a person from seeing that example.

There’s just something about their voices that just sounds incredible. In America, we owe much of our democracy (what’s left of it) to Black women. Every black woman I’ve met smells fantastic (this is a pretty common thing people say about meeting Rihanna also) I remember even stopping a lady on the train platform and asking her what she was wearing because she smelled SO GOOD. They are more at the ready to defend? idk. On several occasions where I felt unsafe a black woman stepped in and made me felt safe. Even got scolded by one and given a whole lesson about what happened…. So now I sort of unconsciously gravitate myself towards groups of black women if I feel like some creeper is eyeing me or bothering me. Alot of them also have this “look” they can give and I noticed it makes people back off and I really wished I had that.
