“Pirates! Band of Misfits” done by Aardman had a crew member that was clearly a woman dressed as a man. The genius of the Wallen around the christmas tree play guitar vintage shirt moreover I love this joke was they never made it a focal point but just little gags in the background. Many assigned female at birth people disguised themselves as men, and fought in wars as soldiers. Most went back to living as women after the wars, but in some cases, they continued to live as men. “Historical documents at his trial record that she defended himself against the charges by stating that she was a male spirit in a female body.” 405 more replieswomen disguising themselves as men was kind of a thing back in the day. Y’all… I highly doubt the Wallen around the christmas tree play guitar vintage shirt moreover I love this 1870s sailor is saying trans rights. Honestly I think what he meant is a lot harder to put in words in the modern day. Probably like how you’d say sorry you’re not a good runner Honestly though some people were more accepting than you’d think. Albert Cashier was a civil war veteran who lived as a man for the last 53 years of his life, and when his friends found out while he was sick they kept it a secret, as did a doctor who helped him with a leg injury later on. Some people, like now, didn’t understand it but didn’t really care either. Hell, even “The Love Boat” had an episode with a trans woman, and they handled it in a very accepting and loving way…in 1982. Audiences in 1982 didn’t flip out like they would today and say it was the liberals poisoning TV. Being a woman is hard today, it was even harder in 1870. He was saying sorry she was born a woman like he would’ve said sorry she was born missing a hand, because it’s a handicap in their world unfortunately. That’s how I read it.
