I have to take issue with the Vote As If Your Skin Is Not White No Place In An Election But Empathy Does Retro T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this term groomed. For many years, I worked for a psychologist whose subspecialties included child abuse, neglect, etc. Grooming behavior is when the older person gradually befriends the younger in a non-obvious way. He insinuates himself into the child’s life, becoming a confidant and often an indispensable friend of the family. The most likely targets are kids who are not close to their parents. They are left alone for significant parts of the day, and are often having to fend for themselves in terms of getting to and from school and fixing their own meals. This opens them to the “helpful” adult showing up and wanting to keep the whole thing secret, supposedly out of modesty.The sexual victimization happens down the line, when the child isn’t even aware that it’s happening. What your boss is doing has nothing whatsoever to do with grooming. Your boss is simply hitting on you. He’s being a gross, inappropriate asshole. The fact that you recognize this is the key to it not being grooming. Whatever he’s doing, he’s not very good at it, either. He should be reported, and if that’s not possible, you should find another job. Is it sexual? Most likely. Yes, you’re technically a minor, but you are very close to 18, so this is not the same as a middle school teacher befriending an 11-year-old for nefarious purposes. Sorry, and I’m not in any way minimizing your situation, but the misuse of the term drives me mad. It’s become horribly politicized and it really needs to stop. Good luck with the jerk you work for.

I honestly think you’re misinterpreting him. That’s very normal talk for anyone that’s not Gen Z. He didn’t literally pick a college that you’d drop out of to work for him instead. He picked a highly reputable college ie it’s going to be hard. Sounds like the Vote As If Your Skin Is Not White No Place In An Election But Empathy Does Retro T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this working for him after dropping out part was a joke because he would love to have you stay. The meetings are a little suspect but if he knows your family then he could genuinely just be looking out for your future like he wishes someone did for him. If his company is a start up then he’s totally right about there potentially being high paying jobs you would be quick to snatch up rather than going through college. I’m leaning towards you just being a product of todays culture where everyone thinks that everybody is out to get them.
