If it were the Vietnam veteran in memory of the brother and sister who never return Vietnam shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this opposite, where your job now forces everyone to WFH, but you’d rather work in a team at an office, then you probably will need to find another job. My job has a hybrid 3 days in office, 2 days optional work from home, which I think is a good compromise, but has it’s own drawbacks. There is no perfect solution and we’re all trying to figure this out. Everything is difficult, until it isn’t. Our productivity is down by about 15% lower. But that is more than offset by office cost savings and employee retention. I’m all for the option to work from home, but acting like every person in 90% of jobs should be working remotely is a gross over generalization. This seems highly dependent on the person and the type of job and not something where a blanket statement can be made. I’m more productive because my home office is more functional and with less distraction than our crappy open office floor plan full of gossip. Also, I tend to work longer days because I’m not commuting 90 minutes per day. Less wear and tear on my car, less expensive coffee and healthier meal choices. Remote work has never been about productivity. Bosses don’t give a hoot about productivity. The push to return to the office is about rental commercial real estate and controlling people. Haven’t you figured it out yet? I work at Texas A&M (where this study was done) and still have to work in the office, even though we proved during COVID that we can absolutely do this job 100% remote.

Wife has been going back to the Vietnam veteran in memory of the brother and sister who never return Vietnam shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this office 1 or 2 days per week. She says she can’t get shit done, compared to when she’s home, due to all the interruptions and chatty co-workers. This is a stupid headline. Obviously it depends on what you’re doing. Even for things that entirely just consist of editing text on a computer, if you’re going to have a lot of conversations with other people, and if those people don’t have 0 latency headsets, there can be some downside, even as there’s also lots of upside. Saying “zero negative impact” is just denying that obvious fact, on the basis of some sort of statistical fiction that each individual has exactly the same experience as the average. Depends on people I guess.. I do almost nothing at home and work like 3-4 hours tops. Or if I’m into what I’m doing I work literally all day. Both are bad and I prefer going to the office (if I have things to do)
