I don’t eat out anymore because I don’t want to tip or get berated for not tipping. I save money and they don’t have to serve me. Win win I hate all the UtI more like u plus I kidney shirt But I will love this iPad POS I see now because there seems to always be a tip screen for something that doesn’t need a tip, like beer store around the corner- why exactly am I tipping the checkout clerk to buy beer? I assume it’s all just baked into the software but still. if this were true, another burger shop would open next door, charge $4 for the burger, and drive the competition out of business while rolling in dough. In reality, a $14 burger probably includes more than $2 worth of ingredients, even when purchased in bulk. Then you have to add all the other costs of doing business: paying employees and managers (not to mention the corporate office that handles all the high-level decisions, advertising, etc.). Logistics to transport those ingredients. Leasing or financing building space. Et cetera.

Donating to charity through a business campaign is a perfectly fine way to donate to charity. There is no nefarious tax evading benefit to the UtI more like u plus I kidney shirt But I will love this business, that is a myth perpetuated by people who don’t understand how taxes work. If you don’t want to contribute to such a PR campaign, then that’s understandable for sure. But at the very least, the charity campaign itself promotes awareness of the charity and its cause, and might contribute to increased donations from people who otherwise wouldn’t have thought to give. So in short this is misplaced indignation. You can be upset about corporations not giving back to the community as much as they should, but don’t express it in a way that demonizes the small ways they DO give back. I am glad Publix stopped doing that clapping with the noise maker thing when I make donations. Just let me enjoy a good feeling without making a big deal out of it.
