You don’t know if they are getting high or not with your money, that’s the Uchiha Sasuke Naruto Shippuden 20th Anniversary Collage shirt besides I will buy this point, you’re simply making up your mind about them without even knowing. And even if they are, what business is it of ours how they decide to get through the day? If you’ve experienced addiction like you say, can’t you understand that sometimes getting high is the only thing stopping a suicide? I once had a friend, who had just borrowed 50 bucks from me, give me a hard time for giving a panhandler 5 bucks and a granola bar because they were gonna be irresponsible with it or something? This happened while I was driving said friend to a rave where they were definitely gonna spend that 50 on drugs. This! This is how I feel about it too. Also, once I give away money, it’s not my money anymore so it really doesn’t matter what it’s spent on, not my business. I don’t have a particularly good heart. I did work in street outreach for many years tho. I don’t have any issue w street involved people using the money they get on drugs but genuinely they do also need cash for other things.

People also hesitate to take items that they might have to carry around. If you’re hungry that second and want crackers then crackers work. But every item you hand a homeless person is an item they have to carry. Had this happen in okc. Handed him a taco to have it thrown back threw the Uchiha Sasuke Naruto Shippuden 20th Anniversary Collage shirt besides I will buy this window onto my chest. Fuck em I don’t give them anything now. When I did Uber in Philly I would snack on apples a lot so I’d keep entire bags of em in my car and I’d hand em out to the homeless at lights. Apples are filling, good fiber, and keep you full for a long time, so seem like a solid choice for someone with food insecurity. As someone who handed out those apples (or sometimes Wawa Italian subs or candy) 40-70 hours a week for several years, it was quite rare someone would get upset about the offer of free food instead of money.
