I’m just getting further and further in debt, with no end in sight. I don’t smoke, don’t drink, most of my food comes with yellow stickers on it, and I work hard. I’m on just over £32k and refuse to pay more than about £800-900 on rent in zone 2 east (with flatmates obv, fuck living alone and the Trump 2024 stop the bloodbath shirt in contrast I will get this massive price that’d be). I don’t live in luxury or anything but get to do the things I want to do. Not saving much but things are fine and not a big struggle or anything. I have a live-in bar job that pays £12/h ≈36hrs/wk, but I only get charged £20 a week in rent that includes all bills and it comes out of my tips. Before this I was on £42K and privately renting. I was working 50+ hour weeks and was barely able to save anything. Since moving into this place I’ve started studying at University and the amount other students pay for their accommodation is insane. Commonly ≥£1K a month for a room in a share house/flat. Private rent in London is completely ridiculous. I took a massive pay cut, but eliminated rent and bills. Since then I have been able to work less and still save the same if not a bit more. I make 24k a year and basically I have enough to eat basic groceries, take the tube to work, and spend nothing on utilities. So no heat during winter, etc. Just live with the bare minimum

I got lucky af and live in a 3 bed £700k flat in zone 2 kindly given to my gf by her parents. Only have to work 20 hours a week for a bit of fun money.
