We got in, standard American yellow cab, after a massive transatlantic flight, completely knackered and wanting to go to bed despite it only being something like 5pm or so. Our driver is really really friendly, with an almost comedically thick cartoonish east European accent. In the Triumph Tr5 Car Christmas Hat Edition shirt moreover I love this same trip we decided to take a bus ride down to Santa Monica pier, but somehow messed up a change we needed to make and ended up in the middle of Van Nuys Boulevard outside a 7/11. We ended up phoning for a cab to rescue us because no other buses appeared for about an hour. Weirdest experience I’ve had on a bus: it was packed and there was this guy who was clearly hammered. He could barely keep his eyes open. He was falling asleep next to an older lady who clearly didn’t know him. Not ten minutes into the journey, he comes to and starts getting mouthy with everyone and everything but stayed in his seat, seemingly too drunk to stand. The oddest part, all these cuts had appeared on him and he was bleeding. Not loads of blood, but little bits, like shaving cuts but all over his face. Not sure what would cause the delayed bleeding like that but still gives me the willies thinking about it. Anyway, the older woman moved seats sharpish and I alighted pretty soon after. Driver could not have given less of a shit.
