But, at the Trick Or Treat Witches Halloween Shirt Also,I will get this end of the day, my job is to create a talent farm. Constantly promoting or transferring members of my teams and constantly interviewing and hiring. That’s really what it boils down to. The only way to do it is to create an atmosphere that balances work and life, provides autonomy and encourages taking risks. We’re there to serve those that report to us and ensure they get to learn from our mistakes as opposed to being forced to repeat them. Nonsense. Everyone should try to meet the requirements of the job. That’s idiot to say that everyone on a PIP gets fired. I never said don’t try, but it’s dumb to think you’re going to be the exception. I’ve seen exactly one person survive a PIP out of dozens over the years in big tech, many of which were politically or personally motivated and had little to do with actual performance.

You know that a PIP isn’t a binding contract from your employer right? There is no guarantee. It’s purely CYA to have full documentation to fire with cause. Probably depends on the Trick Or Treat Witches Halloween Shirt Also,I will get this company and manager, but I have never seen a long term “successful” PIP in my 22 years as an engineering manager at a tech company. Not in any group that I worked with at least. I am not talking about production techs, I am talking about engineers. Might be different in the hourly ranks. But engineers are either gonna go now or at the next downturn layoff. Thats what I observed. Engineers dont really change. They may really wanna try, they may even change temporarily, but they revert back to being themselves. Sure, there are a few rare cases where people don’t get fired, but realistically most do. So let’s not give people false hope. My reasoning for quitting was that I’d be able to say I left the company in future interviews as opposed to saying that they fired me. Thanks for the advice. I’ve been tracking my progress at this job for over 18 months so my resume is looking pretty strong. Is it bad to say you were in Europe for an extended family stay to explain a few months in between jobs? PIPs suck, it means they don’t believe in you, I’d bail asap. I’d use the time in Europe for a head adjustment, realize it’s a big giant world out there and it’s a waste of time to stay where you aren’t valued. Live large OP!
