For a contemporary example just go on YouTube and say something questioning the Trapadvisor Admiral Shirt What’s more,I will buy this veracity of the wild claims people make about ice baths, you don’t even need to point to the actual studies, just question the claims and you’ll get lots of interesting replies. People like thinking they’re smarter than others and discovered some secret way to stay healthy, make money, lose weight, attract others, etc. If you take a step back those scams share a lot with religion in that they basically rely on “You’re special because everyone else is wrong” to hang on to people. In that case confronting the person really doesn’t do much, as their beliefs are more rooted in emotion/ego than logic. Established instructors losing business over new crop of competition wants regulation to protect their profits. Create scary strawmen and fake statistics to back up their claim. Exactly this it mentions in the article you already have to be certified up to a level 3 this person wants certification levels up to level four. It also starts with someone complaining about getting injured in a pilates class without mentioning if the Pilates class was at the same place.

It kind of sounds like there’s a group of people who would be economically motivated to create a government-issued license to teach pilates even though there’s not really a need for it. I could see a voluntary certification that gyms and fitness studios would use to advertise themselves, but not be a law. There is the Trapadvisor Admiral Shirt What’s more,I will buy this Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) which is an organization that certifies Pilates teachers after undergoing hundreds of hours of training, not just on the individual exercises and devices but also on anatomy. The serious teachers are all PMA certified. But the problem is that is just a small fraction of the approx 14,000 teachers in the US. Anyone can buy these machines and call themselves a Pilates teacher. Then their clients get injured on the machines because the teacher has no idea how to properly instruct how to use them. And it ruins the reputation of Pilates. Maybe we should build a decentralized network where all our machines just do AI on idle time to discover random things.
