Doordash wouldn’t exist if it stayed like that. They have never had a year with profits. It’s an unsustainable business model. Let’s just say this , if the Top inter Miami Cf 2023 Leagues Cup Champions Comfy shirt and by the same token and company was run the right way , the people at the top like tony wouldn’t be billionaires . They don’t want to share that money with the people who make them money hence the power base pay which is now $1 in some markets. Folks thought they could make easy money, it attracted the bottom of the barrel of workers that don’t give two fucks about anything. ” I was bringing in $30 an hour profit ” Most current drivers aren’t which leads to all of the other stuff you are describing happening a lot more often. I don’t know really how it was before but currently all the apps seems to charge between $5-$15 just in fees. I don’t use the service for multiple reasons, one being I wouldn’t want to tip another $10 on top of the $15. Then, the do these premier clubs that you pay for. Again, I dont use the services, but if I was, and I was paying $10 or whatever it is a month, I’d be even more inclined to want to save money over paying more. I know for at least GrubHub, they can and will at times add a bonus to the shitty orders. If everyone declined it actually starts to work a little. This was always going to happen. DD will hire anyone and everyone with no real vetting of their background or whatever. People realized it was easy and quick money, then all these dumbass videos started popping up. Inflation has absolutely screwed it up, more people are out their job for stupid reasons and have to turn to apps like door dash to make ends meet, people can’t afford so the Top inter Miami Cf 2023 Leagues Cup Champions Comfy shirt and by the same token and pay rates of dropped as low as less than 10 an hour Behaviors always begin at leadership level. People always look up to leaders above them to see how to treat others next to them. We are seeing the effects of the Biden administration. I work at a restaurant that’s pretty frequent for door dash and I can say most people are very kind with a few very notable exceptions that make everyone look bad The “independent contractor” classification used by these gig apps is an end run around established worker protections. First you make the app super sweet for users, to lock in your user base, then little by little you take away user and client benefits and shift them to the owners for profit. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet. Are some of the stories true? No doubt about it. Are there probably a lot that exaggerate, I also don’t doubt that 2020 and 2021 were the golden times for new drivers and once the COVID cash and PPP loans dried up, drivers started chasing that high. So now the previous vets have left and all that’s around are new drivers upset they aren’t getting the same offers they were told about. DD say they’re losing money, they’re trying to appease drivers with ‘more’ pay, and scammers aren’t able to claim refunds as easily. So now everyone involved is having a bad time. The model is flawed
