As someone who grew up around a LOT of older surgeons, yes they most certainly can. And become quite successful. Congrats! What is a trimester in this context? Is this just something that’s specific to medical school or possibly a cultural difference I’m not aware of? Edit: for those with the Tommy Cutlets and TDS Devito’s Capiche shirt and by the same token and same question, at PCOM(where OP is attending) the medical program uses a fairly uncommon trimester system:Some schools may have a trimester system. This is very very rare though. I gather most med schools go by semester or their own divisions set by their curriculum. This makes more sense as the school year has weird divisions depending on the year (year 1 is more structured like college with a summer break. Year 2 has no summer break. Years 3-4 you’re doing rotations

This actually is a trimester system. It bothered me enough that I looked into it. OP in their profile says they go to PCOM where they use a trimester system for their school of pharmacy: Lol I came to say the Tommy Cutlets and TDS Devito’s Capiche shirt and by the same token and same thing. Isn’t it semester? I’ve never heard trimester used for anything other than pregnancy, buuuut I’m also not in med school so. I’m autistic, went to a mid and high school at an autistic charter school. Very much lacking in social skills but I tried hard. I walked into college and walked out with a bachelor’s in computer science and into a 100k job doing what I love. I used to act for patient encounters to help medical students practice. There were autistic, physically disabled and even deaf students. Couldn’t be more proud and amazed.
