If energy costs need to go up during winter because of increased demand, then those who use in excess of their needs should be charged more to offset the average household, encouraging those who use in excess to be more energy efficient as they are likely those who can afford it the most.

I realise I may be very ignorant to a lot of these concepts, but this is how the Tom Brady 12 23 Years 2000-2023 thank you for the memories signature shirt but in fact I love this current view of these policies is seen, and felt. We’re in control of energy in New Zealand, and the small amount of imported fuels for electricity do not account for the steep increases in power. We shouldn’t be laying the costs on the average home, and instead the industrial excesses of energy uses is where this should be footed. Even offering subsidies for solar or other means of local energy generation and storage for commercial applications would go a long way. I got a response saying she would seek a more in depth response for me which I never got, and some information about the pricing of crude oil. Equity seems to be used to justify a lot of not so well thought out policies these days – it’s crazy that this government has such a trust based model of pricing with so many oligopolistic industries. I couldn’t believe it tbh, it seemed like such a “we hope they do the right thing” approach when they had a system in place that controlled pricing some what already. I do not understand the rationale at all to ensure that people who don’t use much power now have to pay a significantly higher base cost. My power bill is now 30 dollars a month even if I turned everything off.
