The roots of Kansas City’s resurgence can be traced back to the 1980s when a group of civic leaders came together to address the city’s declining economy and social challenges. Through innovative partnerships between government, businesses, and community organizations, Kansas City embarked on a comprehensive redevelopment plan.

This plan focused on creating new jobs, revitalizing neighborhoods, and improving public infrastructure. It led to the development of landmark projects such as the Sprint Center sports arena, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, and the City Market, a vibrant marketplace that celebrates Kansas City’s vibrant culinary scene.
