My point being giving unregulated, unsupervised databases to cops who regularly lie with impunity and form literal gangs is an absolutely horrible idea. This is stupid. We already have photo ID, it’s called your driver’s license. Scanning the Today Forecast 100% chance of Word Search T-Shirt in contrast I will get this driver’s face is redundant. Pretty sure they already run your ID and plates and see if you have any warrants. Where this violates the 4th ammendment and constitutional law is taking a picture of the passengers of the car, then looking them up via facial recognition. If they have probable cause they could already arrest and interrogate a suspect, this is just another fishing expedition. Police Officers don’t need a smartphone for this. Peoples faces have already been taken and used for identification. Not using smartphones. Remember those Body Worn Cameras the public wants the police to have? Every traffic stop you encounter with a cop they already have your face on camera. I had a cop take a photo of me with a digital camera on the side of the road after a traffic stop in ~2010 and to this day I don’t know why. Dangers of posting when you should have gone to sleep hours ago. I saw a YouTube video a while back about a guy that sowed IR leds into a hoodie to prevent it with normal security cameras. His head just showed up as a bright blob. Obviously doesn’t defeat gait recognition, but it is moderately effective for mass surveillance.
