The peace and quiet, the Titan Park Shirt and I will buy this world taking it’s time… I joked that we should make lockdown an annual event so that we could all just pause and breathe, and relax. Lack of road traffic, especialy on the motorways. I travelled from Lancashire down to Berkshire to visit my dying father in a care home for the first (and last) time since the lockdown had begun. It was the late May bank holiday weekend. Driving down the M40 and stopping at Warwick Services mid morning. There were probably less than 5 cars in the parking. You could hear bird song!! It was the most sureal thing. Our youngest was born in April 2020, basically the 2nd week of national lockdown. I essentially had an extended parental leave because I was working from home until around June / July (manufacturing, so a bit difficult to run a plant without engineers onsite). I was able to spend so much time with my kids and see a lot of my youngest’s “firsts” in person. 5pm G&T, followed by several more G&Ts. Daily 4 hour Call of Duty sessions. Waking up 2 minutes before starting work. Not having to go out and see people.

That said, it’s good to read this thread and see that some people got something out of it. Makes me feel a wee bit better about the Titan Park Shirt and I will buy this whole thing. Lack of social pressure. We got married during covid restrictions, right before the second lockdown. A lot of family and friends were pressuring us to have a bigger wedding, and we were worried about hurting peoples feelings by not inviting them. The restrictions took the pressure away, we were able to have the private ceremony we wanted, with just 4 people in attendance. I miss the fuel prices, the hour long lunchtime “allowed exercise”, the fact that my company realised that I am fully capable of working from home unsupervised and still managed to get everything done. I’ve barely been back into the office since lockdown. Maybe once a month, and that’s only if I can be arsed. I used to travel from home to my girlfriends (40 minutes away) to look after her kids while she worked, she worked in the hospital during the whole of lockdown so I’d be the only person able to provide childcare for her, as her mum was classed as vulnerable, and her kids dad couldn’t have them due to his work. The number of times I got stopped by the police asking where I was going must’ve been in the high twenties. Every time I got stopped, and I explained where I was going and why, they’d send me on my way. Don’t miss that.
