Never ‘cancel’. It’s their job to cancel on you, because it hurts them as they listed and then unlisted on short notice. Them them reap what they sow. I feel like the Tina Turner 80s Legend Music American Singer T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this guest should receive compensation for this. If a guest cancels, often they’ll lose some or all of their money. It should be the same for a host. The guest doesn’t get compensated AFAIK but the host is charged a fee on top of the refund, so airbnb takes the money They often get 100% of the booking costs, depending on their policy. If they rent it out another way they’ve now made twice the money. The guest gets nothing if the host cancels last minute. Hardly fair. really? what if the hot water system failed? that can take a week to organise a replacement. that’s not his fault and he’s probably upset at losing income too. stuff happens in life, are you a homeowner? this is the reality of owning a property. maybe the last guest ruined the sofa, smashed a window, broke the fridge, who knows. why would you want to punish him on top of whatever bad luck has happened to him? Everybody knows that “renovations” and “hot water failed” is bullshit code for I got a better offer so you can fuck off. More normally it is, “I have a plumbing emergency but here’s an absolute shit hole I can let you stay in for the same money”. Day before yesterday my tenants (former guests) let me know about indoor rain in their kitchen. We got a plumber out right away but the ceiling is going to be open and drying out for at least a week plus drywall and repainting. It happens and when it does it can be much worse with an unoccupied space.

Yeah. A couple of months ago, I narrowly avoided flooding my whole house as I randomly decided to wander into the Tina Turner 80s Legend Music American Singer T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this kitchen on the guest side at 11pm. My feet got wet. Element gone in a newly installed cylinder. The pool of water was already covering half the kitchen floor. I think I had been going to measure something up? Anyway, if I hadn’t, it could have been a couple of days before I noticed. This is confusing, I’m a host and i had to cancel my reservation for next week due to legal issues and i was charged 25% of the stay on top of the refund for the entire stay. The reservation was 6 days away. Airbnb has the dumbest policies It’s necessary to prevent abuse. Hosts need to consider reservations a commitment that has real costs for their guests and the platform if they cancel. I think it should be the actual difference in price for alternative accommodations and should go directly to the guest, with only a small fee to AirBnB for their direct costs given the in person support this often requires.
